Trauma and Relationship Difficulties

Trauma Therapy

Events from our past may continue to haunt us in our present. This shows up in different forms: distrust, hypervigilance, avoidance, anxiety, depression, substance use, anger, sexual promiscuity, dissociation, attachment or codependency problems to name a few. One of the brains primary roles is to adapt and prepare us for survival. When we experience betrayals, invalidation, or life altering traumatic experiences, these events are stored in the brain and the brain simply does it’s job: protect through hyperawareness and constantly be on the look out for future threats to survival. In a way, your brain is stuck in this state of fear and hypervigilance. Therapy can help you and your brain learn to get unstuck and re-align to the present.

I invite you to no longer live in the pain and suffering. I provide evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy that is backed by science to heal the brain, care for your nervous system, and heal the impact of life so that you can lead a more fulfilling present and future.

Primary Area’s of Focus:

  • Relational Trauma

  • Betrayal Trauma

  • Developmental Trauma

  • Complex Traumatic Experiences

Relationship Difficulties

Relationships are complex and complicated, yet they don’t always have to be this way. You may feel stuck in a pattern of the same types of relationships with the same types of people. You may continue to feel attraction to people you know “aren’t the one” yet experience fear or hopelessness when thinking of ending or leaving the relationship. Constantly questioning why you continue to do this. Maybe you find that you are unable to be fully yourself in relationships, express your wants or needs, or you are unable to think of anything other than the relationship even when not in the presence of your partner. Are relationships taking away from your life more than they are adding to it? Does any of this sound familiar?

I help people understand their relationship patterns, gain awareness or their wants and needs, foster positive relationships, end destructive ones, and improve the quality of their individual and interpersonal life. I can help you learn communication and assertiveness skills as well as heal from difficult relationships of your past that continue to impact your present and future.
